The heavy rainfall in eastern Afghanistan has led to flash floods that have resulted in at least 20 deaths and more than 100 people missing including the mayor of Parun who is the most affected capital city of Nuristan province. More than 80 people have been injured, and the videos shared on social media have shown destruction of property including houses, shops and public buildings. The local authorities have stated that there will be huge financial losses in addition to casualties because people are looking for survivors without having any proper equipment.
